So I ordered my new computer parts today! I'm very excited, I've been waiting for the right combination of price and sufficiently advanced technology that I'd notice the difference from the FX-55 CPU I have now.
In the past I've upgraded too quickly and not really noticed a big difference. This time I had decided I wanted to actually "see" the difference between PC upgrades.
I decided the i7 CPU from Intel should be a difference of night and day, which between games like Fallout 3 and simultaneously working in photoshop, visual studio, and SQL 2005, the ability to handle 8 threads simultaneously should be a big jump.
I normally order from NewEgg, but this time I decided to try Amazon. 4 bucks for next day shipping (I'm an Amazon Prime member) per item. I feel "very" comfortable with Amazon, the shopping experience is great, the customer service is awesome, I had never even considered them for cpu parts, but its all there, just like everything else, hopefully it works out. :)
I'm getting an MSI x58 board (the eclipse, not becuase i wanted an enthusiast over the top board, but it was just the one in stock), 6 GB of DDR 3 memory, and a Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz .
Yay new PC. :)
